LaRita Smith was 79 years old when she arrived in Baghdad on the 18th of March 2003, a day ahead of Shock and Awe. LaRita spent the following two months in Baghdad, until the Marines and their tanks appeared in the protected zone of the Geneva Convention Accords, which was unprotected after all.
